Lockout Services

The Department of Public Safety is not the primary provider of lockout services for University buildings. Students, faculty and staff should only contact DPS for lockout services outside of the business hours for the department of Housing and Real Estate Services. Guidelines and information about each lockout service is outlined below.

Types of lockouts & what to do

During Business Hours: M - F 9am to 5pm

Contact the Department of Housing and Real Estate Services for assistance with Standard Lockouts. This includes all issuance of keys, including replacement and temporary keys, new locks and lock changes in University housing properties.

 

During Business Hours, But Unable to Travel to Housing & Real Estate Services Office

You may contact Public Safety to request re-entry. You will be required to specify the circumstances preventing you from traveling to the Housing and Real Estate Services office and you will be charged an applicable service fee*.

 

After Hours

Contact Public Safety at (609) 258-1000. A Public Safety Officer will arrange to meet you at your place of residence. In some cases a Public Safety Officer will call ahead to a Housing Coordinator who will meet you at your place of residence. When the officer or superintendent arrives, you will be required to present your TigerCard as proof of identity.

 

During Business Hours: M - F 9am to 5pm

During regular business hours (9am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday) students can obtain a loaner card from the Housing & Real Estate Services Office, 5th Floor New South.

 

During Business Hours, But Unable to Travel to Housing & Real Estate Services Office

If you are unable to come to the Housing and Real Estate Services Office,  you have an alternate choice to contact Public Safety at (609) 258-1000 to request re-entry. You will be asked to specify the circumstances preventing you from obtaining a loaner card from the Housing and Real Estate Services Office. There will be a $30 service fee if Public Safety is dispatched to assist in gaining re-entry.

 

After Hours

If you require re-entry after business hours, you can go to Public Safety (200 Elm Drive) to obtain a loaner card. Please note that in the event of critical campus situations, delays in the administering of a loaner card may occur. Please also be aware of possible fees.

During Business Hours: M-F 9am to 5pm

If you have lost your Tiger Card during normal business hours (8:45am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday), please go to the TigerCard Office at “A” Floor, New South to get a new card or call (609) 258-8300 to suspend your card until you can come to the office to get your new card. After Business Hours

After business hours, Students awaiting a replacement Tiger Card can go to Public Safety (200 Elm Drive) to obtain a loaner card. Please note that in the event of critical campus situations, delays in the administering of a loaner card may occur.

The loaner card will grant the student building and dorm room access until:

  • 10:00am the following day, Monday–Friday
  • 11:00am on Saturday
  • 5:00pm on Sunday

 

Returning the Loaner Card

If the loaner card is not returned within 24 hours, a $75 non-returned card fee* will apply.

There will be no charge if the loaner card is returned within 24 hours at one of the following drop-off locations:

  • Housing & Real Estate Services (5th Floor New South)
  • Tiger Card Office (“A” Floor New South)
  • Frist Campus Center Welcome Desk (100 Level)
  • Public Safety (200 Elm Drive)

 

*Please note all fees are administered through Housing & Real Estate Services and are applied on a monthly basis.
