On Saturday, July 25th the Department of Public Safety was awarded our first CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) Accreditation in Colorado Springs, CO. Executive Director Paul Ominsky, Director of Operations Stef Karp and Accreditation Manager Bill Bastedo received this prestigious award for the Department. This award is a mark of professional excellence and highlights that we have earned the distinguished honor through compliance with CALEA Standards. Through this 3 year process, we have established and implemented policies and practices that meet the National standards, as well as serve both the Department and the community well in the future. Importantly, the CALEA Commission was particularly impressed with our community care taking mission. This is a tremendous accomplishment for the entire Department. Congratulations to everyone in DPS!
