
In accordance with New Jersey Attorney General Law Enforcement Directive No. 2018-2, which requires public access to Random Drug Testing policies adopted by law enforcement agencies the Princeton University Department of Public Safety (DPS) has posted our Law Enforcement Drug Testing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). DPS is responsible and committed to ensuring we provide the highest level of service to the campus community. An officer’s life, the lives of fellow officers, and the lives of the public depend on the officer’s alertness and ability to make rational decisions unaffected by illegal drug use. Therefore, the DPS has implemented a Drug Testing policy to ensure officers have the physical and mental capacity to perform their duties safely and effectively.
In accordance with New Jersey Attorney General Law Enforcement Directive No. 2018-3, which requires public access to Early Warning System policies adopted by law enforcement agencies the Princeton University Department of Public Safety (DPS) has posted our Personnel Early Intervention (PEI) System Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). DPS recognizes the importance of a Personnel Early Intervention (PEI) System that provides a management tool designed to detect negative patterns and trends in law enforcement conduct before that conducts escalates. The PEI System assist the department in identifying and remediating problematic officer conduct, when it occurs, that poses a potential risk to the public, DPS, and to the officer.
In accordance with New Jersey Attorney General Law Enforcement Directive No. 2018-6, which requires public access to procedures for processing requests for T- and U - visa certifications from potential immigrant victims of crime or human trafficking. The Princeton University Department of Public Safety (DPS) has posted our Dealing with the Immigrant Community Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). DPS recognizes that immigrants are less likely to report a crime and make it more difficult for officers to solve crimes and bring suspects to justice if they fear the responding officer will turn them over to immigration authorities.
