Emergency responders using fire extinguishers put out a small fire that damaged a bed and mattress in a student's dormitory room at Princeton University early Saturday morning. University's public safety officers and town of Princeton firefighters responded to an alarm at Scully Hall at 2:12 a.m. About 150 students were evacuated from the building. The student, who lived alone in a first-floor room, declined medical treatment from the Princeton Fire and Rescue Squad. Temporary accommodations were being sought for him, and students were let back into their rooms about 3 a.m. University and fire officials were trying to determine the cause of the fire.
