Welcome Desk and The University Operator

The Department of Public Safety also houses the University’s operator system, which relocated to 200 Elm Drive in July 2012. The operator represents Princeton University and DPS with utmost professionalism and cordiality, greeting callers and visitors to campus in a timely, efficient and pleasant manner, giving out general information about the University, and transferring callers to the appropriate destination.

The University operator is available during University operating hours:  8:45am-5:00pm to answer all general questions (i.e. hours of operation for campus libraries, art museum and campus dining, directions/address to campus, etc.) regarding Princeton University and may transfer callers to appropriate Staff and Departments.

The operator can also provide information regarding the surrounding community from on campus events (including athletic events) to area lodging and travel options.

During University operating hours, the automated line also has the following prompts for ease of contact:

  • Human Resources

During after business hours, the University Operator line has the following four transfer options for callers:

  • The Princeton University spell by name directory
  • General information from the Frist Campus Center Welcome Desk
  • Directions to campus
  • Transfer to a Public Safety Dispatcher

Visitors to 200 Elm Drive are encouraged to visit the Welcome Desk with any questions regarding non-emergency situations such as: Lost Tiger Cards or  Campus Vehicle Driver Certification appointments, Lost and Found information and any other questions regarding areas of concern or interest on campus.
